Dermatology in Uttar Pradesh in early sixties was represented by Dr. K N Saxena (Agra), Dr. R N Gupta (Lucknow) and Dr. Jagdish Chandra (Kanpur). Dr. RN Gupta got the association (IADVL) registered at Lucknow in 1975. Dr. K N Saxena was the first in UP to start Diploma in Dermatology in 1964 at S N Medical college Agra.

Prof. Gurmohan Singh established the department of Dermatology at BHU Varanasi and started postgraduation studies in 1972.BHU Dermatology department became a centre of excellence in northern India under his guidance. He was elected National president of IADVL in 1975/76. His research work in the field of bacteriology of skin was acclaimed internationally . He also contributed large number of research papers in different fields of dermatology, leprosy and venereology in various international and national journals. He was chief editor of IJDVL also. He was conferred FRCP(UK) for his contributions in the field. IADVL UP was formed in 1982 and Prof N K Sharma was the founder president.

Prof N K Sharma (LLRM Medical College Meerut) started MD courses at Meerut and was the Torch bearer in the field of Dermatology in UP.

Dr R D Mukhija (Former Dean and Prof&Head BRD Medical College Gorakhpur) has trained more than 100 students, in DVD and MD dermatology who are serving the huge population of dermatologist starved state of Uttar Pradesh.

Dr G G Dhir (former Dean & Prof&Head SN Medical College Agra) also trained large number of students and successfully organised Dermacon in 2001 at Agra.

Dr A K Bajaj (Past National President IADVL & former Prof & Head MLN Medical College, Allahabad) made significant contributions in the field of contact dermatitis and chemical leucoderma. His work on chemical leucoderma had been acclaimed internationally.He published IJDVL abstracts(1961-1990) which were very useful for post graduates and research workers in the country. He has also contributed large number of chapters and co-authored books for undergraduates and practitioners. Dr. K G Singh (Prof & Head MLN Medical College Allahabad) has established dermato- surgery in UP and has trained good number of residents in the field.

Dr. D C Govil (Prof & Head MLB Medical College Jhansi) has made significant contributions by his vast knowledge and clinical excellence.

Dr. Rajeev Sharma (Aligarh) an alummi of PGI Chandigarh has brought UP on the National scene by his contributions in the field of Paediatric dermatology / pregnancy dermatoses and by his clinical acumen. He has been keenly involved in clinical training of postgraduates and private practitioners by interactive sessions during the various state level meeting in the state. He has been invited to deliver lectures at various state, regional and national level conferences of Dermatology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Internal Medicine and Gynaecology. He has contributed chapters in various books and has also co-authored books for undergraduates and practitioners. He was  the National Honorary General Secretary of IADVL for the years 2008 and 2009. He was the President of the Indain Society of Pediatric Dermatology for the years 2009 and 2010.

Other eminent members from UP are Professors S S Pandey, Lata Sharma, Sushil Chandra, R P Sharma, Lalit Mohan, S K Arora, Drs B K Girdhar, Suresh Talwar, Promod Agrawal, R L Sah, Ratan Singh, K N Saxena, Roopak Saxena, Devesh Mishra, Sanjay Singh,  Abir Saraswat,and others.
